Reviving Sunday drives, but at what

What ever happened to the good old days when people got in their cars on a Sunday afternoon and went visiting?
Just this past weekend my girlfriend and I did just that. We went visiting and stopped at her brother’s place. He and his family seemed a bit confused as to why we would just stop by unannounced. But after a few minutes things relaxed and we had a good visit of about an hour.
From there we headed north out to lake country and visited with folks at a restaurant.
From there we headed over to see a friend who works at a resort on the Rainy River.
It was a good visit and three hours into our Sunday drive, we decided it was time to take her little one home for the evening.
Out to the car we went. Everyone got situated and she went to start the car and it would not turn over.
Attempts to boost it failed and out went a call to her sister to come and get us and give us a ride back to town.
Hopefully there is nothing too costly wrong with the car and we won’t have to give up Sunday drives due to their lake of affordability.
