Believing in the Bermuda Triangle
Have you ever had one of those days that you make you believe in things like the Bermuda Triangle or the Twilight Zone?
Well Monday was one of those for us at the Record office.
The technological wonders of computers and digital tools like cameras are wonderful... that is when they are working properly!
Being that Monday is the day we put the paper together, it is crucial that we have everything working just fine in order to get things done on schedule.
Early in the day I took the memory card out of the digital camera. I then selected the photos from the previous week that were on it and copied them to their respective folders.... or so I thought I did.
After I was done copying them I decided to wipe the card as I knew I would be taking many photos at events this week.
When I went to access them later that morning, all of them were where they were supposed to be except the grade 8 grad pics. I watched them copy and when I could not find them was bewildered. They may have copied to some obscure place on my hard drive or perhaps glitched during copying (that has happened before). Since I had erased them from the card I had nothing. Thankfully Rebecca Tolen, mom of one of the grads had some she shared with us. Thank you so much!
As the day went on other strange things happened. The main program we use for pagination closed out right in the middle of an important stage. Luckily nothing was lost.
Then an ad that showed up on the screen would not appear on the printed page. Where did it go? To Bermuda probably.
–Until then,
Ken
