Square dancing fun!

Students at Our Lady of the Way School were treated to a Square Dancing lesson recently. Katherine Williams – who was at OLOW as a supply teacher that day – brought along her violin to teach the students the various steps when dancing together in a group. The students had a great time and really enjoyed the chicken dance!

The Hagarty family had their hands full on September 23rd when more than 60 snapping turtles emerged from a nest in their flower garden!

One by one, the brood of snapping turtles emerged from a nest about 30 cm deep in the Hagarty's flower garden.

To keep the babies from getting run over on their way to the river, Hagartys put them in a lid and later set them free at Hannam Park.

The Champs!

Kenzie Godin, left, and Meghan Vogan celebrated on Saturday afternoon at the Fort High gym after they captured a junior girls basketball tournament with a 26-22 triumph over the host Muskies in the championship game. The Owls made their way to the finals with a narrow 32-30 win on Friday over the Westgate Tigers (Thunder Bay) and a 18-10 win in the semis over the Hammarskjold Vikings on Saturday morning.

Running for a cause!

The entire student body of Riverview Elementary School recently ran and walked a route around town to raise money to fight cancer. It was part of the nationwide Terry Fox Run that is held every fall. The students collectively raised $1,389 for the cause!
