Corrie Wiersema of Rainy River brought in this photo, which was on a postcard, of the CN Hotel back in the 1930s. The hotel was destroyed by fire on Monday after 109 years in business.

After more than a month of delays, construction of the Rainy River (Locum) House began yesterday. The new home will be built on the Rainy River and will house locum doctors when they are working in Rainy River.

Rainy River District Stewardship Council leveraged funds to conduct more than 20 projects in the district this year. The project was intentionally planned for late summer when the creek dries up so that no sediment would flow downstream.

On August 17, local super-heroes turned out for a treasure hunt at the Rainy River Public Library's TD Summer Reading Club! The club's final day also included stories and prizes.
