BassFan reported last Thursday that allegations have been made against a professional bass angler after officials discovered heavy weights in the belly of three dead bass. The bass have been traced back to a specific angler. It is not the first time that an angler has been found guilty of cheating to win tournaments. Other sports have discovered cheaters as well.
Ben Johnson cheated using steroids to win the 100 meters. It is now known that many other track stars used similar performance enhancing drugs to succeed.

It was a particularly warm morning so the usual crew at the debating table at the Bakery in Rainy River (a.k.a. Drizzle Creek) was in early to escape raising a sweat.

Most of the warblers, of which there are a lot around here, are usually dressed up in shades of green or yellow, with a bit of black or brown thrown in sometimes.

Not only are we blessed at this time of year to live in one of the most beautiful regions of the country, but we also have lot of outstanding community events that are worth checking out over the summer.
From one end of our riding to other I will be attending many of these great events, so let me share some that are already in my calendar.

Thursday evening I was stopped by a retired Abitibi employee at the Sorting Gap Marina. We had both found our way to the location to enjoy a hard ice cream cone. We talked about his retirement and then he asked me about the future of newspapers.
“I can’t see a future in making newsprint” he said. “My children who live in the cities don’t subscribe to the city papers. They don’t have the time to read a newspaper.”
