Girls track team takes first at conference meet

The Lake of the Woods/Rainy River High School girls track team won the
conference track meet at Northome, MN. on May 13th. They also competed in
two other meets last week.
Warren and Alvarado Lions’s Invitational Meet
LoW/RR girls finished fourth with 85 points.
Courtney Bitter and Carlie Weibel had the best finishes of the day for
LoW/RR. Bitter finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 13:89
seconds. Weibel finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 1:08.53.
Ashley Payne of LoW/RR finished fourth in the 400m dash with a time of
1:08.97.
In the 4X200m relay LoW/RR finished fourth with a time of 1:59.52.
In the 4X100m relay LoW/RR finished fifth with a time of 1:01.11.
In the 300m hurdles Courtney Bitter finished third with a time of 52.31.
Roseau Lion’s
Invitational Meet
LoW/RR girls finished seventh with 35 pts.
Shantelle Davidson had the best finish of the meet for the team. She came in
second in the 3,200m run with a time of 2:41.97.
Athena Pirkl finished third and fourth respectively in the long and triple
jump events. She jumped 15’ 5.5” and 31’ 10” respectively.
Madie Heinrich finished third in the 1,600m run and fourth in the high jump.
She had a time of 5:49.7 and jumped 4’ 8”.
In the 4X100m relay the girls finished sixth with a time of 57.62.
In the 4X200m and 4X400m relays they finished sixth with times of 1:59.87
and 5:02.84.
In the 4X800m relay they finished fourth with a time of 10:45.08.
LoW/RR Boys finished 11th at the Roseau meet with 8 pts.
The 4X800m relay team had the best finish of the day for the team when they
clocked it in 10:21.52 to place third.
Jay Neilson came in sixth in the 1,600m run with a time of 5:16.4.
The 4X400m relay saw the LoW/RR boys finish sixth.
The results of the Northome meet were not available at press time.
