Pinewood fastball action was hotter than the weather was on the weekend.

The Pinewood Bears fastball team hosted an eight team fastball tourney and narrowly missed the finals losing an extra inning heartbreaker.

Kakabeka Falls met the Fargo/Winnipeg Alliance, a team who is slated to go to the Canadian Fastball Championships later this month, in a hard fought game.

Fargo won the coin toss and immediately went to work on winning the championship. Four batters took to the plate for Kakabeka, one of them was stranded on base.

In the bottom of the inning Kakabeka returned the favour stranding one Alliance man.

It was 1,2,3 in the top of the second for Kakabeka at the plate.

In the bottom of the second two fly outs and a strike out were made up for by one homer. 1-0 would remain the score for another three innings.

Kakabeka tried to get something going in the fourth, fifth and sixth, stranding a runner in each. In the bottom of the fifth Fargo broke the

Kakabeka defense. They hit a single, then sacrificed to advance the runner and then hit another single. A double then scored two runs before Kakabeka shut them down.

In the bottom of the sixt Fargo had one runner stranded.

In the top of the seventh it was 1,2,3 to hand Fargo a 3-0 victory.
