Rainy River hospital staff were great!

Letter to the Editor,
I would like to express my gratitude to the Rainy River Hospital staff for the care and concern I received on a Saturday evening a couple weeks ago. It is gratifying knowing people care especially in light of the fact that the same week end, a fellow in Alberta was turned away from that hospital because he didn’t have his health card; he went home and died.
I woke up that particular Saturday morning with a wrist swelled and very itchy; during the day, my face began to puff up quite badly, my throat was sore enough that I could hardly talk, and I ended up going to emergency to have it looked at. We left Ear Falls to visit in Stratton on that morning and I inadvertently left my wallet at home. When I went to emergency, I went alone, I could barely talk, I had no health card, no identification or anything and, (I believe her name was Barb) was especially gracious and even called Dr. Hogan, who came to the hospital an hour earlier than he had planned. He identified it as a chemical type poisoning (which I later figured out came from a pair of gloves I carry in my kit bag in the same pocket as a small bottle of room deodorizer which had leaked a little onto the gloves that I wore at work Friday night). I am especially thankful to know that there are still places in the world where a complete stranger is still treated with respect and caring. Thank you Barb and Rainy River Hospital staff.
