No Canada Day festivities in RR

Canada Day will be quiet in Rainy River this year.
The usual day of festivities in the park and fireworks display has been put off until the town’s centennial celebrations July 29-August 2nd.
That means that the combined resources of Canada Day funds and the Centennial will see a $10,000 fireworks display during the town’s birthday weekend. That is more than double what the community usually spends on Canada Day Fire Works.
None the less, local businesses are asking people to clip the flag out of this week’s Record and display it in a window with great pride.
