Phyllis Sally Hawk “Nootin-aan-kwa-took”
Sadly on Tuesday September 7, 2010 Sally Hawk of Big Grassy First Nation, Morson, Ont. passed away at the age of 58 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was born May 23, 1952 in Rainy River, Ont.
She will be sadly missed by her children Jeffery Archie, Olivia Wright, Crystal Hawk and Russel Hawk, her sisters Virginia Archie and Verna (Mark) Quash and brother James Archie Jr. She will also be sadly missed by her grandchildren Ryan, Isabella, Jordan, Kim, Ronald, Nicole, Ethan, Robin, Ahleeka, Raven, Katie, David, Aubrey and great grandchild Emma.
She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Sally was predeceased by her father James Archie Sr., mother Margaret Archie (nee Indian), brother Perry Archie, sister Margaret Archie and daughter Isabelle Archie.
Sally enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, visiting and joking around with old friends and her family. She loved country music and driving down country roads. Throughout her life Sally worked in a resort camp cleaning, at the Winnipeg arena as a custodian and she even was working outside planting trees giving back to nature. Sally also spent many hours rice picking and blueberry picking. Sometimes you would see her selling those blueberries she worked so hard to pick. Sally was very giving with her time and was always there when you needed her.
A traditional wake was held at the Big Grassy Community Hall, Big Grassy First Nation, on Friday September, 10 from 3 p.m. A traditional service was held on Saturday September 11, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Big Grassy First Nation Community Hall. Interment took place in Big Grassy First Nation Cemetery.
Pall Bearers were Derrick Archie, Jamie Archie, Darrel Archie, Jesse Archie, Ryan Copenace, Kristopher Luckwell and Freddy Jack. Honorary Pall Bearers were all of Sally’s family and friends.
