JoAnn Moen

The June meeting of the Morson Women’s Institute was held at Buena Vista Resort with 10 members in attendance.
The minutes of the May meeting, and bills were passed for payment.
New business followed regarding a letter from the Chem Free Grad committee, also applications received for the High School Bursary. Paul Lafreniere has shown to be an exemplary student with honour grades throughout his high school years, and was chosen to receive our Bursary. Grad night was June 22nd, and it was presented to him at that time.
Final plans for the Fish Fry being held on July 4th (Sunday) from 12 - 2 p.m. were completed. The fish dinner includes meal, homemade pie for dessert and beverage. All members to bring two pies each, also an item for the white elephant table. Workers are required for set-up, meal presentation, and clean-up.
The cemetery is very attractive this year, with the planting of flowers and the Canadian flag. The Morson Women’s Institute wishes to acknowledge Katie Pentney’s generousity donation and to Laurie for her expertise in planting the flowers.
The Rainy River Centennial supper was discussed at some length. We were advised that refrigeration will be available for our use, also workers are needed for preparation, serving and cleanup. More discussion at our next meeting.
It was noted that the Emo Fair dates conflict with the Morson Bass Classic causing a problem for our members who volunteer at both events.
Items also discussed included the new Health charges by the present Provincial Government, lack of maintenance being done within the Township and the current status at the W. I. Museum in Emo.
The next meeting will be held at Buena Vista on July 15th; the public is invited to attend.
