Fundraiser gets new twist

With Railroad Daze 2003 just around the corner plans are underway for all kinds of activities, both old and new.
One that has been part of the event the past couple of years is back but it has a new twist. Cuts for Cancer will now be Cuts for the Cure.
Event coordinator, Terri-Anne Lundgren, of the Rainy River Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber decided to offer the proceeds from the event to more disease related charities than just the Cancer Society. “This year any illness related charity will be eligible.”
In fact Lundgren said they would like to keep the money local and encourages anyone suffering from an illness in need of financial help in the area to make application to the Chamber.
In the mean time Lundgren is soliciting participants to get their heads shaved in name of the cure.
Sponsor sheets are available at Lifestyles Clothing, Rainy River Drugs and the Rainy River Record office.
The event will take place on the Saturday of Railroad Daze, which is scheduled for July 18-20, 2003.
For more information on it people can call Lundgren at the Northern Lights Credit Union (852-3268).
