Railroad Daze is just around the corner
Monique Gall
Rec. Director
Just a friendly reminder that our annual Railroad Daze is just around the corner. This year the date is July 18, 19 and 20th.
If you or your organization wishes to do a special event, please let us know by June 21 as we are in the planning process and almost ready for our posters to be printed up. So if you have a special event you would like to run, and would like to be included in the poster please call.
This past weekend was our annual sore arm tournament. 9 teams participated. The Damn Yankees (Kyle Nosan) Team from Baudette took 1st place, in second was Rick Tymkin. Top prize claimed $1000.00.
Our next tournament is slated for Railroad Daze, the schedule has already started to fill fast, so any teams interested in playing enter your team today. I am expecting 16 to 24 teams for this tournament.
On July 22, 23, 24, 25, the Rainy River Recreation Board Inc, The Rainy River Youth group are offering a youth camping trip to Camp Quetico. This is a 4 day, 3 night camping trip. I am able to take 16 youth from ages 12 to 16. Anyone interested in this please give me a call. Forms are available at the recreation centre and the high school or Riverview. This should be an exciting 4 days with lots of activities planned, canoeing etc. So don’t miss it, sign your child up today. Cost is very minimal due to the grant we received from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Recreation.
Just a reminder to all kids that youth ball is on Monday evenings. There is no cost, and it is a lot of fun. So join us on Monday’s. T-ball from 4:15 to 5:15 parent pitch from 4:15 to 5:15 and youth mixed rom 5:15 to 6:15.
Ending once again with a big thank you to the recreation board and to the volunteers who come out to help at each event, without you people, events and activities would not go on.
