Gail (Budreau) Lambert, 74

(Edith) Gail Budreau Lambert, aged 74 years, of Hiawatha, Kansas, died on October 16, 2010 at her home. Gail was born on October 6, 1936 in Rainy River, Ontario. She was one of four children born to the late Leland and Mary (Beckman) Budreau. She attended local country schools for her elementary education, high school in Kenora and one year of LPN training in Thunder Bay, graduating in 1954.
Gail married Wallace Nelmes in November 1954 at Thunder Bay. A daughter Sandra (Sandy) was born in 1956 to this marriage. Gail and Sandy moved back to Rainy River in 1959. She worked as an LPN at the Red Cross Hospital, then St. Joseph's Hospital in Kenora and again to Rainy River where she was placed in charge of the X-Ray Department.
Gail married Floyd Lambert on September 15, 1969 at her parent's home at Oak Grove Camp. They moved to rural Hiawatha, where Floyd farmed until his death in 1997. Their daughter Lisa was born in 1971. After Floyd's death, Gail moved into Hiawatha where she lived until the time of her passing.
Gail worked with her husband on the farm and was also a caregiver to several elderly people. Gail was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hiawatha. She was active as a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent for over 20 years. She enjoyed researching and writing family histories, crafts, and reading. She particularly enjoyed oil painting, leaving treasured keepsakes for all her family. Gail was mainly a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and was always there for her family.
Gail was predeceased by her husband Floyd and her parents Leland and Mary Budreau, and an infant sister Laurel Joy. She is survived by her children Sandy (Joe) Snavely, of Overbrook, Kansas and Lisa Lambert (Anthony) of Winterset, Iowa. Grandchildren Leanna Snavely (David) of Meriden, Kansas, Brittany (Shawn) Stevens of Newton, Kansas, Dillion Lambert and Gabrielle Tull of Winterset, Iowa. Great-grandchildren D.J. and Jessica Friend of Meriden, Kansas. One sister Lela (Ernie) Zurkan of Windsor, Ont. One brother Larry (Linda) Budreau of Rainy River, Ontario. Nieces Jodi Bennett, Laurie Murphy, Jodi Bodnaryk, and nephews Jay Zurkan and Dean Zurkan, all of Canada.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Hiawatha, KS. Visitation will be at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, in Hiawatha.
