Ignace turns 125
Dear Editor,
Ignace is celebrating its 125th Anniversary with a weekend-long Homecoming Party on August 6-7-8. Current and former residents are invited to kick off the weekend on Friday by dropping by the rec centre between 2 and 8 p.m. to see who is here to celebrate! Souvenir albums from Ignace’s Centennial will be on display.
Saturday’s schedule includes Ignace School’s Open House; former students and staff are invited to drop in and visit between 11 a.m. an 1 p.m. Rooms will be open, Year Books will be on display, and hallways decorated. Souvenir Ignace School mugs will be for sale. A huge parade starts at 1 p.m. from the former Lions Club, ending at the rec centre. Be a spectator or, better yet, throw together a float and join in the fun! Attention turns to the Travel Centre/Library complex between 2 and 4 p.m. where there will be a Kids Fair, Quilt Display and Victorian Tea (You’re invited to dress up in period costume!). Ignace’s gem of a museum will be open all afternoon. Then comes a “Meet and Greet” from 4-9 at the rec centre, followed by a dance.
