The Rainy River High School Sr. Girls Volleyball team competed at the All Ontarios two weekends ago. While they did not bring home any hardware they had a good experience.
They played in one of four pools. In their first match they lost the best of three 2-0 to E.S. Confederation 7-25 and 11-25.
In their second game they lost 2-1 to E. S. Lajeunesse by scores of 17-25, 31-29 and 3-15. The win in this match was their only one.
Trinity College then won 2-1 over the Owls; 7-25 and 15-25.
Their final match was against E. S. Saint-Charles Garnier and they lost 2-0 by scores of 18-25 and 20-25.
Coach Guy Arpin had this to say about the team. “I was pleased with the teams performance. They were quite nervous going into the first match as it was to the #2 seed. Once we got our first game under our belts, they improved every match. We played our best volleybal in the last match against the #5 seed.
We took a set off of them in a very nerve racking game. Final score was 31-29! The girls represented our school well and had a great experience that will benefit them going into next years season.”
The team had two juniors on it this year and next year will see two more juniors moving up and five seniors returning.
“We were part of some amazing volleyball! Thanks to everyone who has helped to support our team,” concluded Arpin.
