Strawberry Social set for May 4th at RR Legion

Fifteen members attended our regular April meeting. We opened with all reading the auxiliary prayer. President Acree welcomed us all, and in the absence of our secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting.
Business arising from the minutes, it was reported the tickets for the 50/50 draw are out, to be drawn at our Strawberry Social on May 4th.
Several of our members will be rocking at the Rock-a-thon we sponsor at the Trade Fair on May 14th. More rockers are needed, and pledge sheets are available. If you can help, get in touch with Pat Acree at 852-4192.
Three of our members will be attending the Spring Conference in Kenora on April 9th. Eight of our members will attend the "Mama needs a new purse" luncheon at Fort Frances on May 14th, a fund raiser for their auxiliary.
New business: Our Strawberry Social was the main topic. It will be at the Legion, May 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. There will be a penny table, plants, draws, etc. Penny table items are needed and should be left at Carolee Hogue's home by April 26, the cost of item included. If unable to do so, let Dawn Jarvis know what the item is and the cost, and bring it to the Legion the morning of May 3. We will be setting up then, her number is 852-3952.
Also it was brought to our attention, the birds in our aviary are down to 5. We need more, preferably a few canaries. Carla Books has been caring for them, but could use some help. We will be looking into getting birds, and also a supplier of bird seed. Anyone interested in helping out, get in touch with Pat Acree or Carla.
The flower planters at the back of the long term care were also mentioned. Last summer they were absolutely beautiful and were hoping to do the same this year, as well as looking after a few tomatoes, etc.
This concluded our meeting. The next meeting will be at the Legion, after setting up and lunch. The time will be 10 o'clock. See you there.
P.S. The Corporate Riverside Membership forms are now available at the Rainy River Health Care Centre at a cost of $3.00. Pick up before April 24. This is for 2011-2012 and will entitle you to vote.
