Legion ladies having a garage sale

The local branch of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on April 13, with President Valerie Nelson presiding.
First on the agenda was a visit from Dr. Singelton and Norma Elliott. Dr. Singelton gave a talk on the proposed housing being planned for locum Doctors to stay in. He also showed slides pertaining to this issue. This was very informative, and we now understand the need to attract new Doctors.
After this the minutes of the March meeting were read and all accounts were presented and authorized for payment. Treasurer Donna Ivall gave an account of the Auxiliary's finances.
Correspondence was read and dealt with as required. President Valerie reported on the District Meeting held in Fort Frances. It is our turn to host the District Meeting in Rainy River next April.
A motion was passed to donate two scholarships to the Rainy River High School now, as we will not be giving one to the District Scholarship in the future.
There were two applications presented for membership. We are pleased to accept Dawn Ivall and Jennifer Schrumm as new members.
Peggy informed us the medals and broaches are ordered for members who have served in different offices and will be presented at our June meeting, which is also a pot luck supper.
Everyone is reminded of our Garage Sale to be held on Saturday, April 30th at the back of the Legion. There will be many items. Come support this, as all profit is donated locally.
