If being silly is your game then winning could be your name at the 3rd Annual Rainy River and District Chamber of Commerce Walleye Tournament Sept. 21-23, 2001.
Silly Boats are any non-motorized watercraft that have been transformed into something imaginative and unique. Palson said she has seen the likes of the Loch Ness Monster at other Silly Boat contests. She hopes for the same here this year.
The parade will take place at 12:30 p.m., depart from 6th St. and travel to 4th St. and down to the tent. Judging will take place at the tent where the Silliest boat will win $200 in Chamber Bucks!!!
Then the real fun begins as a Silly Boat Race will follow. A maximum of four contestants per Silly Boat will be allowed and there must be a minimum of one adult per boat. All silly boaters must be wearing life jackets.
They will race from the 2nd St. launch to the Big Dock. There is a $20 entry fee for the race with the winner taking all!!!
Palson is asking entrants to call her at home to register (852-1618).
Those who do not have a silly boat can decorate a bicycle, wagon or scooter to enter in the parade. A $50 Chamber Bucks prize will be presented to the best decorated in this category.
