Organizers and volunteers deserve high praise for Santa parade

Ho... ho.... ho.... holy! What a parade!
A big “Hat’s Off” to the organizers of the Rainy River Santa Claus parade!
I was very impressed with the floats and the extras like the colour party, Santa on a Kitty Cat, etc.
Despite being very busy all day Friday, True Value once again did a bang up job on their float. Cory Lindal’s Cat in the Hat was even better than The Grinch who Stole Christmas.
Hundreds of people lined RR’s Main St. and cheered for the parade. I heard many people giving it rave reviews! One person even said they had been to Fort Frances’ parade the week before and Rainy’s was much better!
It all starts with the Chamber of Commerce way back in October and their catalytic actions bring several groups on board for a collaborative effort that I think is second to
none in the district!
After the parade the Lions Club hosted Santa and Mrs. Claus in the Legion Hall. Candy bags were donated by the Lions for all the kids who visited with Santa; and there were at least 200 kids who did that!
Donna Davidson and Doug Giles lead with Christmas Carolling around a bonfire and the Mayor lit the town tree.
All of this was free of charge for all those in attendance. One thing no one can say about Rainy River is that we are not generous folks!
The Christmas season is now upon us and the organizers of the parade deserve a huge thumbs up for starting it off in a big way! Thanks for all your tireless efforts!
–Until then,
Ken
