Last Saturday eight members of the Rainy River Tae Kwon Do club took part in the clubs first ever test day in the gymnasium at Rainy River High School.
Bryce Godin, Lindsey Bourre, Jessie Bourre, Anagen Wood, Shannon Jonasson, Sylvain Ghrgo, Shauna Moen and John Jonassen all shook the jitters and came before their teacher, Chris Pollard and Tae Kwon Do Master Ken Anderson, both of Stratton, to test their knowledge and ability to do their first forms.
The were asked to do forward kicking, mid-section punching, round-house kicking on a target and several other moves.
Master Anderson said that all the students are coming along well. “I am sure you all are a bit nervous; I know I was at my first test. You all know your first form and knowing the basics is very important.”
Anderson went over the basics and the proper way to do them with the students. He encouraged them to keep training hard.
As the students learn they can test and earn a stripe towards the next belt. Then they test up to earn the next level of belt, all the way up to black belt, which both Pollard and Anderson have.
