Cheryl Morrison honoured for EFR instruction

Written by: Alexis Sharp
Cheryl Morrison was recognized at Tuesday’s Board Meeting in Fort Frances for voluntarily providing Rainy River High School students with the opportunity to participate in an Emergency First Responder Program. Cheryl volunteered over 100 hours in the past school year alone to certify/recertify nine students, even though the course only requires 44 hours. The newly certified are: Matthew Armstrong, Hillary Brown, Kelsey Tesarsky, Ayla Holmes, Skylar Arpin, Colton Marchuk, Samantha Westover, and Lindsay Bourre. Alexis Sharp and Jessie Bourre, who have been on-call since grade nine, also re-certified this year, as required every three years. Each student successfully passed the test and all of the Emergency First Responders are now on-call at Rainy River High School and are prepared to do what they can in the event of an emergency. Sabine Drackert also studied with the students and is now a certified Emergency First Responder. This will be a major help to the Rainy River Fire Department.
The Emergency First Responders, as well as the school as a whole, would like to thank Cheryl Morrison for volunteering many long hours to prepare the students. It is dedicated volunteers like Cheryl who help make our school a wonderful place to be.
