Urgency for locum house rises as Dr. Chu resigns

The Rainy River (Locum) House Fundraising sub-Committee is pressing ahead with their efforts to organize the necessary capital to bring the project to fruition.
An added urgency was given to the completion of this project with the news this past week that Dr. Chu has resigned her contract as of October 2011 as a permanent physician in Rainy River.
With Dr. Singleton then left as the only full-time doctor in Rainy River it is doubly urgent that we increase our efforts to make Rainy River an attractive location for locums as well as recruiting permanent replacement doctors.
Additional cash donations of $25,000.00 have been received since the Kickoff in May and ‘donations in kind’ pledges for a range of sources continue to lower our overall capital requirements.
The Main committee is set to meet on June 29 at the municipal office in Rainy River and an information session was held in Stratton last week.
The Lake of the Woods information session has been set for Thursday, July 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bergland Hall. Everyone from the Lake of the Woods municipality, First Nations, and the rural areas north of Rainy River who haven’t had the opportunity to get first hand information on Rainy River Locum House here’s your chance to get the facts and ask questions.
