Masonic lodge to celebrate its centennial
Letter to the Editor;
As the town of Rainy River moves to its centennial year, we in the Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons are celebrating ours with you. Free masonry has been serving society and the world in general for over three thousand years of recorded history, but only one hundred in this town.
Masonry has been labeled a secret society, but this is untrue. We are a fraternal organization with some secrets and share a natural fellowship based on common experience. Our goal is loyalty to each other and service tot he community and the world. The most visible Lodge of fraternity are the “Shriners” with their commitment to Children’s Hospitals.
Many distinguished citizens of our town have been and are past masters, Officers and Members of our Lodge.
Our Lodge, as most people will know is in the old town hall and fire station.
We support the town library as best we can, but with e cost of all things that are a necessity escalating in price we are hurting but we will submount the adversity.
As our Charter was granted in 1903 we are starting our celebrations this year with a Fish Fry in the Royal Canadian Legion on May the 9th. More details later in this paper. The Lodge will be open for view by appointment all year. Come out and meet the Masonic Brotherhood
