Railroad Daze fun begins this Friday

Railroad Daze 2011 is all set to steam into Rainy River this weekend!
The event kicks off with the always popular seniors picnic on the lawn at the old CN Station at 1 p.m. There will be live entertainment and goodies to enjoy!
At 4:30 p.m. the Rainy River House (locum/student doctor house) fundraising committee will get a boost as there will be a fish fry fundraiser at Hannam Park. All proceeds will benefit Rainy River House.
The annual mixed slow-pitch tournament gets underway at 6 p.m. Friday with games running all three days of the festival.
At 7 p.m. there will be a Caribbean Island Show at the park featuring musical talents showcased at larger cultural festivals in Winnipeg.
Saturday is chalk full of activities for all ages.
At 10 a.m. the annual Rainy River (remote controlled planes) Fun Fly begins and runs until 5 p.m. It is held just north of town and the public is invited to come out and watch the acrobat skills of the pilots and see some amazing planes!
A special Railroad Daze Farmers Market will also open at 10 a.m.
Main Street will be closed to traffic and inflatable bouncy house “Wacky World” will open at 10:30 a.m.
The popular Railroad Daze parade will be at 11 a.m. on Main St. beginning at the Park and going up Main.
After the parade the Catholic Women’s League will host their annual delicious luncheon at the RR Catholic church at Noon.
Also beginning at Noon on Main St. is a classic car show!
At 12:30 p.m. there will be horse back rides across from RR True Value.
A special sports event will take place at 1 p.m. at the ball diamonds. A grudge match between Rainy River and Pinewood fastball teams will be held.
After a busy day of activities the world famous Legion steak fry will feed your hunger at 4:30 p.m.
At 9 p.m. there will be a dance at the arena featuring a CCR tribute band.
Sunday morning a pancake and sausage breakfast will be held at the Rec. Centre at 8 a.m.
In interdenominational church service will be held at the park at 10:30 a.m.
The slow-pitch finals will be at 2 p.m. and the cardboard duct-tape boat races will follow at 3:30 p.m.
At 4 p.m. there will be a Home run Derby/Skills competition at the Rec. Centre.
