Centennial dinner will likely feel the prom pinch

This weekend will mark the start of a celebration that should rival the likes of the 75th and 90th anniversary celebrations.
The Rainy River Centennial Committee will hold their kick-off dinner to fund raise for next year’s big party; scheduled for the long weekend in August.
Hopefully there will be a good crowd there as it is also prom night in Rainy River.
It is funny how some weekends there is nothing going on and then others where there seems to be everyone competing for our money and attention.
The prom committee has worked hard all year to get ready for this one night; a night that truly is a special one that so many young people look forward to and will remember for the rest of their lives.
The centennial committee also has been working hard towards this date. Hopefully the two events do not take away from each other.
Perhaps better communication would have seen this double booking changed... maybe the dinner to Friday.
I am sure that anyone who is involved with prom, whether a parent, grandparent or friend of those attending will be at prom.
Usually that means a packed gym at the school.
Chances are the centennial dinner will feel the pinch a bit.
