Rainy River Legion honours the heart of its organization

About 90 people gathered at the Rainy River Legion last Saturday night to pay tribute to many members who have been very active as volunteers in the club over the years.
The Legion's Appreciation and Awards Banquet centered around the presentation of a special medal issued last year as part of the national organization's 75th Anniversary.
The 75th Anniversary Commemorative Medal was launched at the annual Legion Convention in June of 2000 and Legions right across Canada hav been presenting them to people judged to be worthy of recognition for their strong volunteer support of the club.
Receiving the medal were the following members:
Legion
Lloyd Hodges, Don Budreau, E.N. (Manny) Nordin, Herb Nelson, Harry Arnould, Lou Nicholson, Richard Lund, Pat Berg, Lou Kaliska and Eileen Hodges.
Ladies Auxiliary
Joan Hall, Dode Budreau, Vivian Hartnell, Donna Ivall, Ginny Arnould, Evelyn Bourre, Verna Barsy, Peggy Livingston, Olga Sirman, Winnie Berard, Beatrice Olinyk, Pearl Ivall, Beatty Nault, Helen McQuaker and Evelyn Nelson.
Current Executive
Roger Arnould, Cory Lindal, Marlene McNally, Colin Wood, Linda Johnston, Phillip Bourre, Terry Cooper, Joe Kaliska and Gerry Marchuk.
50 Year Members
Another prestigious honour was bestowed upon three members. Jack Rattigan, Don Budreau and Chuck Hall were all presented with their 50 year membership medals.
