They went undefeated in the annual RR Rec. Board fall classic slow pitch tourney over Labour Day weekend; that is until they met Jason Wilson’s team in the finals.
Wilson’s team battled their way to the finals against the Express and had to beat them twice to win the grand prize of $1,000.
In the first game of the finals things started off with Wilson leading 3-1 after the first inning. They then widened that lead in the 2nd to 5-2.
In the bottom of the 3rd the Express’s Guy Arpin cranked one over the fence to bring in two runs and make it 6-4.
That was answered by Wilson and Co. in top of the 4th when they scored seven runs and held the Express scoreless in the bottom half.
In the 5th only the Express scored to make the game 13-8 in favour of their opposition.
In the 6th both teams scored 3 runs to make it 16-11 for Wilson.
In the 7th Wilson’s team scored 3 and held the Express to 1 run. The 19-12 win for Wilson ment they had to play the Express again.
In game 2 the Express came out swinging their bats and played tough defense.
They lead 15-1 by the 4th inning. They never looked back and handily defeated Wilson’s crew who was mostly from Baudette. The final score was 22-3.
