Bears mauled Royally

Last Tuesday the members of the Rainy River Legion Royals and Pinewood Bears fastball teams lined the baselines and paused for a moment to remember veteran umpire Kingsley Downs who was killed in a car accident July 1st.
After that they got their scheduled game underway.
In the top of the first the Bears went out three up, three down.
The Royals returned fire in the bottom of the first, capitalizing on three errors by the Bears. At the end of the inning it was 4-0 for RR.
One Bear, Tom Armstrong, was stranded in the top of the 2nd. But that was as close as they would get to breaking the doughnut for two more innings.
IN the bottom of the 2nd, Bear’s pitcher Kyle Langlais was replaced by Clint Armstrong after giving up two more runs. Two more would score and RR lead 8-0.
Neither team scored in the third.
In the fourth Scott Aikenhead scored the Bears’ only run of the game and the last one of the game for either team. Final score was 8-1 for RR.
