Come visit the e-reader petting zoo
By Michael Dawber
Librarian
Rainy River – The Rainy River Public Library invites you to visit e-book readers in their natural habitat at the eReader Petting Zoo!
On Thursday, August 4, technology co-ordinator Raj Sritharan invites you to see and touch four types of eReaders: Nook, Kobo, iPad, and Sony Reader.
You can find out how these e-book readers work, learn how to download the library’s e-books and sign up for the free software to read the books.
The eReader Petting Zoo runs from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on August 4.
The library is also pleased to bring you a workshop on using our database service, Ancestry.com.
Ancestry.com is a website for researching family history.
The site has literally billions of records to see.
The Rainy River Public Library has a subscription to this service until the end of 2011.
On Thursday, August 18, Raj will be leading two tutorials on Ancestry.com.
The tutorials run from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and again from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
You can also drop in for help between 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Both the eReader Petting Zoo and the Ancestry.com workshops are free of charge.
No registration is needed.
