Anthony Leek of Emo named Liberal candidate for fall election

Anthony Leek – Township of Emo Councillor and volunteer Track Promoter – was nominated in front of supporters last night as the Provincial Liberal candidate in Kenora-Rainy River.
“We have so much to be proud of in this region,” said Leek. “It is time for us to promote those qualities to all levels of government and we can start by electing someone who is proud of the efforts that have been made. I am running to become the MPP for Kenora-Rainy River because we need to start working with the province to bring positive improvement to the region.”
Leek was born in Fort Frances, and has lived in Emo for most of his life. He was elected to the Borderland Racing Association in 2005, and was President for two years. He was elected Councillor in the Township of Emo in October 2010.
The Hon. Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry has also shown his support in the nomination.
“Anthony Leek has always played a leadership role in his community - from classroom, to race oval promoter, to Councillor. He is dynamic, dedicated and driven to make sure the people of this riding have every opportunity to diversify their economy, and have a better quality of life. I’m proud to support him in his fight for the people of Kenora-Rainy River!”
Anthony earned a B.A. in History and Native Studies from the University of Manitoba, as well as a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University. He has also worked as an educator in the Rainy River District over the past two years.
