Kenora resident Robert Sinding has announced that he is seeking the opportunity to represent Kenora – Rainy River at Queen’s Park, following the inspiring example set by Howard Hampton.
Robert Sinding is a trial lawyer based in Kenora, regularly appearing in courts throughout Northwestern Ontario. His firm Sinding & Associates focuses on employment law as well as family, aboriginal and criminal law.
While articling at a union-side labour law firm in Toronto he co-authored an internationally published book on international trade and labour standards.
After being called to the bar Robert worked as Crown Counsel with the Ministry of Labour, primarily prosecuting violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act while gaining extensive experience in government service.
Robert has been an active New Democrat for over twenty years, participating in councils, conventions and local Riding work throughout that time. Prior to law school he worked as a Constituency Assistant for New Democrat M.P.P.s, including for Marion Boyd when she was Attorney General.
Robert has been on a number of local boards including the Kenora Association of Community Living, the Kenora Multicultural Association and the Kenora Assembly of Resources, and he has taught courses at Confederation College in aboriginal law and human rights in employment.
Sinding said "I want to build on Howard Hampton’s strong representation of this riding. 10,000 Ontarians on the waiting list for home care and 900,000 Ontarians without family doctors, a disproportionate number here in the north, is unacceptable. Corporate tax rates continue to be cut while working families rely on credit cards to pay for necessities like gas, heat and hydro, due in part to the H.S.T. I have the experience and the ability to best speak out for Kenora – Rainy River on the issues that matter to us."
