Council discusses water/sewer rates, but no action taken yet

Council had a busy but uneventful meeting Monday evening with much of the agenda being eaten up sending staff and council to meetings in the upcoming weeks.
However, one issue from last month's meeting did arise.
Councillor Larry Armstrong, who is also the Chair of the Water and Sewer committee, asked if anything has been done to look at the issue of high water and sewer rates in Rainy River.
Last month Gayla MacMillan lead a group of concerned citizens in a charge to have something done about the high rates in Rainy River.
Council agreed to look at the idea of water meters. However, nothing concrete has been done on the matter since last month's meeting.
Armstrong did say he liked the Record's editorial suggestion that the province be brought on board and at the very least provide some kind of rebate or relief for low income water and sewer users.
