Morson Women's Institute logs over 245 volunteer hours
News Release
Morson W.I.
The Morson Women's Institute met in September at Buena Vista Resort to complete the Morson Bass International fundraising events. Eight members present with 245 volunteer hours reported. Minutes were approved with corrections, and the financial statement was received from the Treasurer. A total income and expense sheet was distributed to members from the recent fundraising. It was noted at our meeting that profit was equal to last year, and this was made possible through the generous donations received from Buena Vista Resort, Beavermills, Bergland Store, Woods Bakery, Clarence Gibbons, Sr. and Ernest Thompson Distributors. The success of fundraising is only as good as its volunteers, and we acknowledge Sharon Parsons, Patsy Moen, and all the W. I. members who worked so hard towards the Bass Tournament food. To everyone, thank you from all of us for your contribution. We also would like to mention that the Forest W. I. in conjunction with the Locum House Fundraising Committee did a superb job of running the burger booth for two full days.
Correspondence was read from FWIO head office, as well a donation received from Ilene Lefleur in memory of Betty Bartlett. Betty was a W. I. Life Member, and passed away unexpectedly this year. Plans for this money will be dealt with at a later date. Bills from the Bass Tournament were approved for payment.
Donations were made to the W. I. Museum in Emo, $100.00, Associate Membership was purchased in the Morson Tourism Association for $100.00, and a donation to the Rainy River Locum House of $1,000.00 was approved for payment. Auditors for the year were appointed - Nancy Miller and Laurie Pentney will serve this office.
We will meet at the Morson Hall on October 16th with a supper and auction. Many members will be returning south, and our final meeting of the year will be held on December 1st to complete plans for our Christmas potluck.
Meeting adjourn at 3 p.m.
