Recreation Board to host Railroad Daze ball tournament this weekend

The Hannam Park Canteen has been up and running since the end of June, There are a variety of menu items. The Beach Volleyball net is up and in place for the summer down at Hannam Park, feel free to ues the court and if you need a ball just stop in at the Hannam Park Canteen and ask to borrow a ball from us - as long as it is during working hours which are usually from 11-7 daily.
The Railroad Daze baseball tournament will be held this coming weekend on the 16th, 17, and 18th of July. At this time there are 8 teams for sure. The board is shooting for a 16 team tournament with a possibility of a homerun derby if there is enough interest. The board is also entertaining the ideas of a 3 on 3 half court basketball tournament for those who are 15 and under and maybe even a 16-18 if there is enough interest. This will be on Saturday and will be a one day event. The Recreation Centre is hosting a Railroad Daze dance upstairs in the Recreation Centre on Saturday the 17th of July from 9 - 1.
The old tennis court next to the Recreation Centre has been paved and is ready to be used, the fencing will be going back up her within the week. We will be placing basketball and hockey nets for the public to use. In time the board hopes to have painted basketball court lines on the surface. A single Tennis Court is also being discussed at this time.

The Recreation Centre is in need of volunteers for this coming weekend of Railroad Daze, 2-3 hours of your time would be very much appreciated. They are also looking for some to share a few hours of their time during the weekend of the Centennial for all of the activities and events that we ar planning and hosting.
