Town is ready for the big party

It’s down to the nitty-gritty!
With Rainy River’s Centennial Weekend looming just a week away, the Town is a beehive of activity getting everything in place for the Big Bash.
Tuesday, July 27, tents will be popping up all over town, with the erection of the Big Tent scheduled at the waterfront beginning at 5:00 p.m. The tent erection volunteers are reminded to be on hand, on time and the public is asked to stay well back and enjoy the spectacle.
Tent’s up, in go the stage, tables, chairs, etc.
Canopies, picnic tables, waste containers, port-a-potties, and signs will be sprouting like dandelions in May all week long.
On Wednesday, July 28, it’s whole town pitch-in day, whether its roaming the streets, picking up litter, or doing that last minute spruce up on your own property. Refreshments and encouragement will be offered at the Big Tent and we’ll top it all off with a Community Picnic in the Big Tent starting at 5:00 pm. So pack your lunch basket and come down to enjoy some community spirit as we prepare for the onslaught.
The Registration Tent also opens in front of the Town Hall on Wednesday, July 28. Those who have pre-registered can pick up their packages, which include the Handy-Dandy Tote Bag and their Registration Bracelets (required for admission to some venues over the weekend). At the Registration Tent you can also purchase meal tickets to many of the Big Bash’s Evening Dining Events held on different days. These Dining Events all have limited capacity so get your tickets early and don’t be disappointed. Local residents are encouraged to pick up their Registration Packages on Wednesday to help us get the lumps out of the system and avoid the crush later in the week. Memorabilia dining tickets and admission bracelets will be available not only at the Registration Tent at Town Hall, but also at a kiosk in Hannam Park by the Canteen.
If you are on a Volunteer Committee be sure you check with your coordinator to double check where and when you are scheduled. Not signed up yet? No problem! Call Crystal at 852-3093 and she’ll offer you a host of areas you can help out at.
We’re ready! Happy 100th Birthday Rainy River.
