Rainy River centennial featured on postage stamps
Ken Johnston
Want to send a post card home from the centennial? Well the Rainy River Post Office has a unique stamp just for the job!
Post Master Grace Seguin commissioned a special Rainy River Centennial stamp featuring the town’s centennial logo as well as the dates of the party. So when in town head in and buy one of the stamps to mail your post cards and then ask her to use a special post mark that has the centennial on it as well. But hurry because she only has limited stock of the stamps (650).
The post office also has specially made coffee mugs for sale with the centennial logo etched on them. A special package of a mug and stamp are available for a special price. However, the mugs are moving fast and only 200 remain.
Last week Seguin presented Rainy River Mayor Glen Armstrong with a sheet of the Rainy River Stamps for the Town to display at the Town Hall.
The Post Office staff will be hosting an open house during the parade this Saturday and will have a table out front selling the special centennial stamps and mugs.
