Danny Armstrong wins RR open

Being it was the same weekend as the Rainy River centennial it was only fitting to have 100+ golfers in the 31st annual Rainy River Open Monday.
With attendance at more than double the norm, some people were worried that the day would be a longer than usual tournament. However, everything went really well and awards ceremonies took place at the RR Legion right on time Monday evening.
In the Championship Flight it was last year’s champion Glen Crackel doing battle with Danny Armstrong. After 18 holes they were tied at 81. After a playoff hole it was Danny Armstrong who prevailed to win his first ever Rainy River Open.
Coming in third was Wally Duggan with 83.
In the men’s First Flight it was Garry Noga with 80 winning. He was followed by Jim Crackel (85) and Dennis Kuzyk (86).
In the men’s Second Flight it was Peter Vaartnor with 89. Roman Stoyko (91) and Chum Armstrong (92).
In the men’s Third Flight it was Rene Nordberg with 89. Scott Gale (91) and Chad Armstrong (93).
In the men’s Fourth Flight it was Dennis Olson with 94. Glen Brown and Gary Armstrong, Sr., tied with 96.
In the men’s Fifth Flight it was Billy Olson with 98. Peter Burbeck came in second with 100 and Reed Armstrong and Leroy Hancharyk came in tied for third with 101.
In the Men’s Sixth Flight it was Vaughn Murray with 103. John Jonassen (104) and Lenny Larson (105).
In the ladies’ First Flight Sherrin Forster was crowned champion with an 85. Marie Vanderwater (90) and Cheryl Duggan (97).
In the ladies Second Flight it was Darcy Olson winning. She was followed by Pat Borgen and Rhonda McComb
In the Youth Flight it was Daniel Siu with 88. Bryce Marmus (96) and Kam Kuzyk (106).
The longest drives were hit by Brad Nordberg and Sherrin Forster.
Closest to the Pin was Jim Crackel and Carla Armstrong.
The Longest Putt was made by Art Solomonian, Jr.
