Kenneth Douglas (Joe) Berg, 60
Kenneth was born to Ken and Pat Berg (Giles) on November 22, 1950 in Fort Frances, Ont. Living in Wabigoon, Ont he started public school.
Living in a rural area, Joe learned at an early age how to use a saw and axe to help mom cut wood for the stove. Also to carry water from a well down the hill.
Joe and his four brothers were baptized in the Wabigoon Anglican Church. In 1962 the family moved to Rainy River, where Joe finished his education. The boys went to Sunday School at the Mission Covent Church. Joe loved to be in "Vivian's" Christmas Pagent. He lived for hockey games on t.v., for spending money the "boys" swept grain from C.N. cars.
Joe liked to work and helped with many to do different jobs. His favourite was Boonstra's Pool Hall. He was the bouncer at the C.N. Hotel. Joe left home to work at various places. He went to Kamloops, B.C. to work as a roofer in construction, and also worked for the S.P.C.A. His last place of work was in Victoria, B.C. An accident at work broke his hip which never healed, unabling him to continue working.
Joe was called Kenny to all his many friends, and a nick name of Santa Claus because of his beard. The apartment block friends held a small celebration of his life on November 18.
Joe was predeceased by his father, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his Mother, Pat brothers Jim, Robert (Charlotte) Frank and Rodney and many nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
Joe was cremated in Victoria and is at home in Rainy River.
A memorial service will be held in the spring to say so-long Joe.
