Library Corner: New hours in the New Year
By Michael Dawber
CEO/Librarian
Rainy River – The Rainy River Public Library is ringing in the New Year with new hours.
Starting Tuesday, January 3, 2012, the library will be open 2 p.m.-7 p.m. on both Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The library will also be open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
We’re confident the new schedule will be more convenient for our patrons. Service will now be available during the lunch and supper hours.
The library is also changing its service fees.
Starting in 2012, all overdue fines will be 50 cents per item per working day.
This means the late charge on DVDs will drop to 50 cents from $3.00.
The hefty $3.00 charge was set when movies were much more expensive than books.
Times have changed, and DVDs are now the same price as many trade paperbacks.
Speaking of movies, our DVD display is packed with new titles for the holidays!
Check out The Help, Super 8, Water for Elephants, and Soul Surfer.
Kids will enjoy Nanny McPhee Returns, Bambi, Winnie the Pooh, and Despicable Me.
You can see all our new arrivals at rainyriver.jasinorth.ca. Our recently-upgraded catalogue puts our new titles front and centre.
Don’t forget: for the holiday season, the library will be closed on Saturday, December 24 and Saturday, December 31.
The staff and board of the Rainy River Public Library send you seasons’ greetings and best wishes for a prosperous 2012!
