Municipal nomination deadline is Fri.

As the deadline is fast approaching, very few are rushing to run for political office in Rainy River.
Only three names have been officially nominated for the upcoming municipal elections in Rainy River.
For mayor, Gord Armstrong has filed nomination papers.
Local business owner, Glen Armstrong told the Record Monday that he intends to run for mayor but has not filed papers yet. He served on town council the past three years.
For council, only one person has filed nomination papers; Lance Lindal, an incumbent.
For school board, Ron McAlister, the incumbent, has filed nomination papers.
Local business owner, Crystal Lindal told the Record Monday that she plans to file papers to run for school board as did another local business owner Lisa Armstrong.
People have until 5 p.m. this Friday, Sept. 26/03. Papers can be picked up at the Rainy River Town Office, which is located in the old CNR station on Highway 11. There are six positions open for election on council, one for mayor and one for school board.
The election is November 10, 2003 and the terms of office are three years.
