Enter the Forest of Reading

By Michael Dawber
CEO/Librarian

Starting Saturday, March 3, kids can vote for their favourite books at the Rainy River Public Library!
Young readers will get to vote as part of Ontario’s “Forest of Reading” program. Each year, the Forest of Reading – run by the Ontario Library Association – promotes great children’s books for different age groups.
Once again this year, the library is pleased to offer the “Blue Spruce” list. This is for books written for children in Kindergarten through Grade 3.
On March 5, caregivers and children up to age seven can join Librarian Michael Dawber for a morning of stories and crafts.
Each Saturday, Michael will read two of the 10 books in the Blue Spruce program.

When all the books are read, we will vote for our favorite on March 31. Thousands of other kids will be voting across Ontario!

You can see all the Forest of Reading books, including our 10 Blue Spruce titles, on-line at rainyriverlibrary.com/blue-spruce.html.
To register for our Blue Spruce storytime, please call the library at 807.852.3375 or email us at libraryrr@gmail.com.

Our program is free, but you must register to take part. Only children who read or listen to all 10 stories can cast a ballot.
The fun gets underway at 11 a.m. on March 3. Hope to see you then!
