Ministry of Labour loses emails
News Release - Min. of Labour
Due to a computer failure, e-mails received by the Ontario Ministry of Labour and the agencies listed below have been lost.
This affects e-mails sent between 9 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2004 and 6a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2004. Anyone who sent an e-mail to the ministry or one of these agencies during this period should re-submit. Affected e-mails may have included legally required notices, time-sensitive correspondence, job applications or inquiries on ministry positions currently advertised, including health and safety inspector positions.
All affected e-mails were destroyed by the computer failure - there is no electronic record of these messages. However, confidential information that may have been contained in e-mails or attachments has not been compromised.
E-mails sent to other Ontario government ministries, offices or agencies have not been affected by this computer failure.
For those whose e-mail job applications were lost due to the computer failure, the ministry is giving extensions on deadlines. Job applications sent by e-mail between 9 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2004 and 6 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 for all advertised positions should be re-submitted by 5 p.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2004 (or the applicable closing date if after September 1, 2004).
The ministry regrets any inconvenience.
