Ben Lindal, 69
Ben Lindal, of Arbor Vitae, Ontario, passed away at the age of 69 on Sunday, June 17th, 2012.
Ben was born in Fort Frances, Ontario on August 22, 1942 and raised in Tovell Township, He married his wife, Millie, of 46 years on June 4th, 1966 and they raised three children.
At a young age and with a passion for building homes, he started his own company, Linwood Homes, with his father Jake and brother Ron. In 1998, after 30 years of running Linwood Homes he was able to retire to Arbor Vitae and pursue his hobby of selective logging.
He was a devoted husband to Mildred Lindal (nee Anderson), the greatest father to Lance Lindal, of Rainy River, Cory (Cindy) Lindal, of Edmonton, Alberta and Crystal Lindal, of Rainy River.
Ben had one Grandchild, Victoria Lindal (daughter of Crystal) and he treasured his time with her. Victoria was Ben’s shining star and when she sang, it always brought a tear to his eye. He always said she has the voice of an Angel. Victoria looked to her Papa for guidance, wisdom, and strength. He was her everything and she will miss him dearly.
Everyone who knew Ben, knew him as a generous man, never failing to lend a hand or help a neighbor. Ben was always quick to jump at the chance to help someone, offer advice or just to listen.
Ben worked in the bush and enjoyed to be outside keeping busy, most recently he was busy building bird houses for the many birds around their home. He enjoyed taking his friends and family walleye fishing at our family’s cottage on Lake Despair, where he also made lifelong friendships and regularly helped his friends around there too.
Ben loved his many nieces and nephews, but had a special connection to his niece, Lisa Lindal, of Winnipeg, his great nephew, Kyle James (son of Lisa) who fondly referred to him as Papa, and his niece and Godchild, Jackie Anderson, of Edmonton Alberta. Ben was predeceased by his parents, Jake and Hildur Lindal, his brother, Ronald, and his sister, Ingrid.
The Family of Ben Lindal, would like to send heartfelt thanks to all the caring staff who took such great care of him in the ICU at the Thunder Bay Hospital.
There was a private service for close friends and family at the Lindal residence in Arbor Vitae this Saturday, the 23rd of June, 2012 at 4pm.
