On Monday Members of the Kenora OPP Marine Unit were searching the waters of Lake of the Woods in the area of Poplar Island and Firebag Island for a missing fisherman.
Shortly before 10:00pm on Saturday September 18, 2004, police were advised that 32 year old, Jimmy Olson, of Sleeman, had gone missing from a boat while returning from Oak Island to Morson.
Police were advised that the man had been sitting at the back of a 17’ Crestliner boat with three other people in it, in very rough water when he went missing. The man was not wearing a life jacket or a PFD at the time.
Members of the OPP marine unit, volunteer searchers, are continuing to search the area where the man went missing.
