Rainy River man charged with assault with a weapon

On September 17th, shortly after midnight, officers from the Rainy River Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a disturbance at the CN Hotel on Atwood Avenue.
Prior to police arriving at the scene the suspect fled on foot, but not before assaulting and threatening the manager. Shortly after 2:00 a.m. police received a second complaint about the same suspect causing a disturbance in the 500 block of Little Street. Police attended the scene and arrested Troy Dalseg, age 40, of Rainy River. Dalseg has been charged with two counts of Assault with a Weapon, Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, Mischief Under $5000, Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Utter Threats to Damage or Injure an Animal and Assault. Dalseg was remanded into custody and will appear in court at a later date.
On September 19th, at approximately 3:30 a.m. officers from the Fort Frances Detachment of the OPP investigated a disturbance at a residence in the 500 block of Osborne Street. As a result of that investigation Paul Penagin, age 24, of Fort Frances was arrested and charged with Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, Mischief Under $5000, two counts of Breach of Probation and two counts of Failing to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking or Recognizance. Penagin was remanded into custody and will appear in court at a later date.
Further, on September 19th, shortly after 7:00 p.m. Officers from the Emo Detachment of the OPP investigated a motor vehicle collision on Nickel Lake Shores Road. A north bound Dodge, extended cab truck, blue in colour collided with a southbound vehicle. The driver of the pick up truck failed to remain at the scene of the collision.
