This is Charlene Brubacher’s second year teaching in the area but her first in Rainy River.
She is teaching Junior and Senior Kindergarten at Riverview School. Last year she taught at Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program in Stratton.
She studied at Lakehead University where she obtained her Concurrent Education degree.
Brubacher grew up in Thunder Bay but last year met a Fort Frances man and was married to him this summer.
She really likes it in the area and said that her 24 JK/SK students are really enjoyable to teach. Having taught grades 5/6 last year she said, “This is a bit different in that you have to tend to their needs more, which is a nice change.”
Outside of work she loves to sing and was in the Rainy River Community Choir last year. She also likes the outdoors and any kind of scrub sports.
She said the staff have been very helpful and that the new and bigger school is great.
