Joan Pentney is in her 20th year of teaching and has made the move from McCrossen-Tovell after 17 years there, to Riverview School in Rainy River.
βIt was just time for a change,β said Pentney having nothing but good things to say about her years at Bergland.
The biggest change for her this year is who she is teaching. Last year it was grades 4-8. This year it is a 5/6 split.
She said she grew up wanting to be a teacher and decided to do that a little later in life. βI have no regrets staying home with my kids,β said Joan. Both of her kids went to school in Bergland and then Rainy River.
She complimented the staff at Riverview and her class of 22 students. She said the move was easy as she knows the curriculum. She is teaching all subjects except French.
Joan still lives in Bergland and says the commute is a little longer than her walk to McCrosson but not too bad.
