Growing up in Pinewood, teaching at Riverview Elementary School is like coming home for Mark Jodoin.
For the past 22 years he taught in Hearst, Ont. about 5 hours on the other side of Thunder Bay. He said he and his wife were looking for a good place to retire and this job came up.
He is teaching a grade 7/8 split class of 26 students. He teaches English, Math, Science, Geography, History, Physical Education and Health. He majored in Physical Education.
He plans to get involved with extracurricular activities such as volleyball and basketball. “We have already started soccer and cross country,” he said.
He has two kids, one off to nursing school and the other in grade 11 at Rainy River High School. Jodoin went to elementary school in Pinewood and eventually went to high school at RRHS.
His family is moving into his mom’s place on Hwy 11 near Pinewood. He is excited about the fishing and hunting opportunities and just being home!
