Forest Women’s Institute
Forest Women’s Institute met on September 14th at the home of Vivian Hartnell with thirteen members present.
Peggy Livingston opened the meeting and Joyce Penner read the Women’s Institute Ode. First item on the agenda was looking ideas to help the RR pumpkin festival. After listening to all the different ideas F.W.I. decided to give a monetary donation.
Minutes of the last meeting were read by Eleanor Wiersema. Motion to approve the minutes as read was made by Carol Clifford; second by Eileen Shannon; the minutes were approved.
Eleanor gave the financial report. Motion to approve the report as read was made by Rose Hanson; seconded by Nancy Hanson; the financial report was accepted. F.W.I. decided to make a donation of 10% of its take at the door from our fashion show to the Centennial Committee. F.W.I. also decided to donate the butter patties left over from our pancake breakfast to the Legion. Dorothy Wiersema turned in bills from the Fashion show and tea. All bills were paid.
F.W.I. participated in the area convention Sept. 20-21 in Bergland, attended a hospitality night on the 19th and an officer training workshop on the 23rd.
Eleanor gave a report on the Emo Museum Board meeting. F.W.I. also has tickets to sell on a quilt with the proceeds to go to the Emo museum.
Eileen made a motion to give a donation to the Emo Museum; second by Vivian.
The motions passed.
Annie won the door prize. The next meeting will be at Joyce’s home on October 12th. Roll Call will be “Something To Be Thankful For.”
Peggy adjourned the meeting and a lovely lunch, served by Vivian, was enjoyed by everyone.
The winner of the quilt draw was Fred Hartnell of Rainy River.
The draw took place at the Legion dance on July 31. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets.
